The Birth of Computers: Charles Babbage, Ada Lovelace, and the Babbage Engines
Presented by: Donald Mark Haynes
Computers and software development has exploded over the last 70 years. Before that, there was a man with a vision. How did it all begin and who was Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace? Charles was a polymath, mathematician, philosopher, inventor, and mechanical engineer. Ada was a mathematician, intuitive, beautiful, and non-conformist. Charles created a prototype of the first mechanical computer, which forms the basis of modern computer architecture. Ada became the first programmer, describing a set of instructions to calculate Bernoulli’s numbers.
