The House of Afros, Capes & Curls builds community around blerd culture, which celebrates the intersection of blackness and nerdiness. A non-profit and a movement born in Omaha, Nebraska, “The House” uses community engagement, and special events, to create safe spaces that empower, engage, and inspire. We love building community! We also love everything scifi, fantasy, comic, gaming, board game, rpg, steampunk and Afrofuturistic! We use blerd culture as a way of shattering the myth of a “monolithic Blackness”.
